With many county shows in the books and major shows coming up quickly, don't forget the importance of keeping that hide smooth and fresh as you make that final shearing on your major show lambs. The best post shearing hide treatment I know of is effective, safe, non-staining and inexpensive. After shearing a good hide moisturizer is always recommended. 1. Mix 3 parts glycerine to 1 part water in a 1 quart spray bottle. Shake well and you're in business! 2. Fine mist this liberally on all parts of the body and rub in or brush in with a ultra soft brush. (The water and glycerine will soak into the hide moisturizing and protecting your sheep from razor burn, table irritations and hide stress.) You can use this spray during the trip, at the show, and works great after rinsing in the wash rack. Don't forget to carry some 100% aloe vera gel, as well. Nothing works better for hot pink skin and stressed hides. These two products partner well and need to be in your show box at all times. Utilize your soft breathable tubes and blankets and keep your sheep cool and comfortable when trailering to the show.
